Nanomox

Nanomox is a UK clean-tech spin-out from Imperial College London, developing innovative wet-chemical technologies to recover valuable metals from industrial waste, tailings, ores and other complex feedstocks, and transform them into advanced inorganic materials for a diverse range of applications.

What makes Nanomox unique is its ability to combine selective metal recovery with advanced materials production in a single, circular approach. Using proprietary chemistry, including recyclable ionic liquids, Nanomox is developing processes designed to operate at lower temperatures and with greater selectivity than many conventional extraction routes, helping to reduce energy use, chemical consumption, waste generation and downstream processing requirements.

Our first advanced materials offering is zinc oxide, a highly versatile material used across applications ranging from cosmetics and personal care to electronics. Nanomox has optimised its crystal structure to maximise UV-blocking performance while minimising white cast to levels not previously achieved with conventional zinc oxide products.

We are now preparing to launch our first product, initially targeting the cosmetics sector, where performance, transparency and material quality are critical. From there, we plan to expand into other applications and sectors, while broadening our platform beyond zinc to other strategically important metals.

By linking resource recovery, circularity and advanced materials manufacturing, Nanomox aims to create more efficient and sustainable pathways for producing the high-performance materials needed across established and emerging industries.
