Amy Taaffe-Evans is an experienced digital strategy and capability leader with a strong background in transformation, organisational change and people development. She began her career in the private sector, gaining valuable C-suite experience supporting organisations through complex digital transformation and change programmes.

Now in her 11th year with DVLA, Amy leads the Digital Strategy and Capability Centre and is accountable for the people pillar of the Digital and Technology Strategy. This pillar plays a central role in supporting the organisation’s ambition to be recognised as a Centre of Digital Excellence.

Her work takes a long-term, generational approach to building sustainable digital, data and technology talent pipelines. Through a well-established portfolio of activity, Amy supports initiatives designed to inspire, attract, develop and retain professionals across the digital landscape. She is committed to ensuring that both the directorate and the wider organisation continue to invest in future talent, while providing high-quality development opportunities that support individuals throughout their career journey.

Since the in-housing of IT operations in 2015, Amy and her team have worked in partnership with capability teams across the Information Technology Services Directorate and the wider DVLA to deliver significant progress. Together, they have developed comprehensive career frameworks and supported sustained investment in training and development resources, helping to ensure the right talent is in the right place at the right time.

Amy is also a strong advocate for wellbeing, digital inclusion and community impact. Under her leadership, DVLA has continued to deliver the Annual Code Challenge, supporting young learners across Wales for more than ten years. As a signatory to the UK Government Reuse for Good Charter, DVLA has also championed sustainable “Tech for Good” initiatives, enabling end-of-life technology to be refurbished and donated to individuals and communities in need across the UK.

A committed advocate for developing others, Amy is also a qualified Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner and coach. She actively mentors and coaches’ colleagues across the organisation, supporting their ongoing professional growth and development.
